memorial tradition
i know i've posted about it in the past.
but here it is again.
for some years passed now
my family has had a tradition of going
to the cemetery the saturday before memorial day,
bright and early in the morning,
to put flags on the veterans grave.
i'll admit.
when the tradition started,
i was probably the last one who wanted to do it.
i was young,
didn't fully understand the meaning,
and i was NOT a morning person.
however in the years recently,
i'm usually the one who makes sure we go.
there's something about it that i just love.
maybe it's because i get it now.
how truly blessed i am to live in this country.
the freedoms i have.
that are not free.
and it's just a small way i can show my gratitude.
holidays about this country,
and i the land that i live in
are my favorite.
thank you,
to all those you have sacrificed,
and are sacrificing their lives for us.
for me.

we also got sweet suite wristands.
but decided to go down to the floor cause we also had floor tickets.
(note to self: if you have floor tickets to a concert and you are really short,
count on not being able to see anything, unless you are in the front row.
or the back row... still worth it:)

seriously? it's my birthday again!?
but really. my last birthday was like... yesterday!
for 7 years i've been a teen,
then all the sudden i'm 20.
what?!
i remember pretending to be this age!
but time really has passed and it's time for me to say "ta ta" to my teen years and hello to the big 2-0!
(but let's be honest, i never really grew out of being 5 years old.)
i had a lovely day!
we are really celebrating all our may birthdays on sunday.
BUT i still got to eat everything i wanted to!
french toast for breakfast
(on the "you are special plate!")
lunch with dad at cafe rio!
pork salad and chips and queso!
and a YUMMY dinner
of shish-ka-bobs, wild rice, mixed fruit, and mom's breadsticks!

and you know what? i was even surprised with a tree of rolls instead of a cake!
best. thing. ever.
i always eat rolls over all the cakes anyways!!
